Dear _____ ,
Change. A word that is oh so relevant in my life right now and I can only imagine that there are many other people with the same feeling. In just over a year I have graduated college, lived in two different cities, changed jobs, changed roommates, went from a long distance relationship to a longer distance relationship, my dad retired, and my parents are selling our childhood home to boot. This is not me complaining in any way just sharing some of the things I have been faced with hoping that you can relate to at least one of them.
I have learned that I am at the point in life where these types of changes will be my new normal.
I have learned how to problem solve when things are not always the way you imagined them to be.
I have learned that when faced with ambiguity, your attitude is half the battle.
I have learned that you should not get too comfortable.
I have learned that if you anticipate change you will be able to handle the change that much better.
I have learned that every person will handle change differently and it is important to stay focused on yourself.
I have learned that when changes come your way do your best to find the positives.
I have learned that if these changes are making you stressed, then talk to a friend.
I have learned that focusing on something for yourself can make the changes easier, I choose working out.
I have learned that staying focused on the future can keep your mind off the stresses of the present.
I have learned that organization is key in your success.
and I have learned that reading, podcasts, and music can be a good way to distract your mind for a bit...
There is a book that I would highly recommend to anyone going through a lot of change right now, "Who Moved My Cheese" by Spencer Johnson. I got this book as a gift and after reading it I passed it around my team at work, it really helps to give you perspective on things that come your way. If you decide to pick up a copy let me know what you think, I would love to hear if it changes your perspective in any way.
