This might be the first time mentioning this but if you did not know I am currently in a long distance relationship across the country me in New York and Ian in Los Angeles. Believe me this isn't always easy but when it's your best friend and the love of your life you somehow learn to get through some of the tough days. We are still so young and each pursuing our individual careers mine in retail and his in entertainment. We have always told each other that this is an important time of our lives and although we are in love we want to make sure there is nothing we each regret in our future or limit ourselves to one city just because that is the easiest option. We have the rest of our lives to do this so a few years in the beginning will do us well.
I have grown so much over that last year and learned many things about myself and just life in general. One thing that I have learned through the long distance is how to live in the moment whether that be when we are together or apart. When I am in NY I live life to the fullest soaking in all that this incredible city has to offer, keeping my mind distracted so that I don't feel as sad. When we are together we also like to fill our days with memories whether that be trying a new restaurant, learning some new skill, going to a new place or tourist attraction, or just walking around each of our neighborhoods. We are both active and busy individuals who don't really like to sit still.
On this particular visit we were in LA and decided to explore a few of the landmarks-- some more popular then others! First off, we needed to go to LACMA to see the light posts, just so I could feel like I was on the set of a movie. As we walked around the LACMA campus, we realized that the La Brea Tar Pits were right there. The Tar Pits are a very fun free thing to do in the city, as long as you do not mind the smell of a little tar! In the middle of the city, they have preserved natural tar pits that contain all sorts of fossils. On a nice day I recommend taking a stroll around and reading the signs for a fun little historygetaway in city! We then headed over to the Beverly Hills sign to sit on the benches and people- watch for a bit with a quick stop at the original Sprinkles of course! We had an incredible day and I would highly recommend any of these stops to all of you looking to explore LA! This will be a reoccurring theme of us sharing some of our long distance adventures along the way!
